From: "Alan Wills" Subject: Rundown of UK Performance at MtG Worlds Newsgroups: uk.games.trading-cards.misc Message-ID: <01bcaa45$0dba26a0$ee65c1c2@computer> Here's a rundown on the performance of the UK team at the Worlds. Final positions for the Irish team at the end. This is formatted for "Notepad" (lowest common denominator) so if it appears weird to you, try reading it using that (or something similar). Rob Olly Mike Steve Team ( /33) Day 1: Rochester After Rd 2 (Max 6 pts): 0 1 3 3 - After Rd 4 (Max 12 pts): 6 4 6 3 - After Rd 7 (Max 21 pts): 12 10 12 9 12th Totals for Day 1 (W/L/D): 4-3-0 3-3-1 4-3-0 3-4-0 Day 2: Type II After Rd 9 (Max 27): 15 14 12 13 10th After Rd 11 (Max 33): 18 14 12 13 22nd After Rd 14 (Max 42): 22 23 15 13 25th Totals for Day 2: 3-3-1 4-2-1 1-6-0 1-5-1 Day 3: Extended After Rd 16 (Max 48): 22 26 18 17 26th After Rd 17 (Max 51): 22 26 21 17 26th After Rd 18 (Max 54): 22 29 24 20 25th After Rd 19 (Max 57): 22 29 24 20 26th After Rd 20 (Max 60): 25 32 27 23 22nd After Rd 21 (Max 61): 25 35 30 26 19th Totals for Day 3: 1-6-0 4-3-0 5-2-0 4-2-1 Final Pos (out of 153): 125th 42nd 93rd 124th Things worth noting: Olly had a solid performance in all three formats, whereas all the other three had a nightmare day in one format or another. Olly finished only 2 points away from the top 32 - if one of his two draws was a win instead he would be a considerably richer man ($2,400 instead of $500). :-) Mike's performance in the Type 2 section let him down badly. If he had managed 4-3-0 (Not beyond the realms of possibility) then he would have been on 39 points and in the top 20. If he'd gone 4-2-1 like Olly, he would've been sitting in the top 16. Ireland final postions: John Larkin, 21st place = 39 points. One more point would've placed John in the top 16. 4 more points and he would've been in the Top 8 for the finals on Sunday. An excellent performance. Wins $2,400. David Kearney, 31st place = 37 points. Wins $2,400 Tom McDonnell, 95th Place = 30 Points. Diarmuid Quirke, 153rd, = 15 points. Team = 14th Place. Although the Individual event is now over, the Team event continues today. It's "Team Sealed", where all results count double (6 points for a match win, 2 for a draw), and each team gets 4 starters and 8 boosters to construct 4 decks with. In theory we should do well in this event as both Rob and Mike are experienced in this area (Ranked #1 and #2 in the UK respectively). Scott Wills scott.wills@nene.ac.uk (Ignore the above address)
