Prayer of Humility - Van Waffle

November Semifinalists

Notes: In response to the All-Tempest challenge I decided to use some of the powerful new artifacts and white enchantments to revive the classic U/W control deck. The key cards are Humility and Orim's Prayer. Combined, they effectively hamstring all the opponent's creatures. Use counters to fend off whatever else he or she might throw at you, particularly direct damage or Tranquillity. Save Grindstone and Thumbscrews (or Scalding Tongs) until after you have played the white enchantments. Then whittle away at your adversary's life and library. Static Orbs should wait, too. They'll infuriate anyone relying too heavily on buyback spells like Capsize. Otherwise sideboard them out; this deck doesn't need them in order to freeze fast decks. Against burn, the Orbs are a nuisance because Tempest lacks a Hydroblast. Don't hesitate to sideboard out the two Avenging Angels; they'll hang around idle once Humility is place and function mainly as a backup to the other defenses if you can afford to keep them.
