INCOMING!!! - Zack Weintraub

November Semifinalists

Notes: This deck is one big combo. Nature's Revolt makes all your lands saccable to the Bombardment. Field of Souls give you more creatures to sac everytime you sac a creature or animated land (remember, these aren't tokens) to the Bombardment. The Winds can keep creatures away (and get you a couple points of damage to your opponent) or can act as an armageddon, so you can hit your opponent with a 4/4 Rootwalla while they take 2 mana burn. The Vineyards help cast all the high cost spells, and can be thrown into a Rootwalla so I don't take burn. Fireslinger is good for getting rid of opposing weenies, while the Mirrors can help block small-mid sized creatures, and the Pacifisms hold off other biggies. Skyshrouds help me whitewash mana for the double white cost spells, help to get out stuff quicker, can be cast from Vineyard mana, and can just be sacced when no longer useful. Field of Souls is STRONG in this deck, and is downright broken in multiples. Sacrifice a land to do one damage and give you 4 1/1 creatures (or just make it 5 damage). The Spirit Mirrors are also amazing cards in here. They make good blockers, and can be sacced to the bombardment before you make another. They are also just big enough to kill an opponent's Nature's Revolted land. <br> The sideboard is just to get rid of the obvious threats to this deck. Burn may very well be too quick for this deck, so the CoP: Reds are in there to stall out the game till I can blast them away. The 4 disenchants are for against the many evil enchantments and artifacts in tempest that hurt this deck, such as an opposing CoP: Red, Humility, the 2 millstonesque cards, enemies bombardments, Medalions that allow Capsize buyback, and others. Light of Day is for against the speed black creatures, shadow creatures (as most dangerous ones are black), the big flyers, and all the other usual suspects. The Fireslinger and Rolling Thunder are both AMAZING at dealing with weenies, and as most all of the creatures in Tempest are X/1, this do nicely. Pacifism is just incase I go up against a deck packing Rootbreaker Wurms, Kezzerdrix, or other big creatures that could be cast real early with my Vineyards.
