Date: Sun, 03 Aug 1997 20:46:30 -0400 From: Sean McKeown Subject: MiViLite Deck Submission Here is an Ertai's Familiar/Tombstone Stairwell deck I've been brewing up...sideboard is undetermined and I wouldn't tell it anyway because I still want to play with it =). It's a variant on the deck that took 2nd to Seth Burn in the recent NY PTQ. ----------------------------------------------------- Spells: (13) 4x Impulse 3x Agonizing Memories 3x Coercion 3x Tombstone Stairwell Creatures: (25) 4x Ertai's Familiar 4x Merfolk Traders 4x Man o' War 4x Nekretaal 4x Shadow Guildmage 3x Phantom Warrior 2x Waterspout Djinn Lands: (22) 4x Bad River 2x Undiscovered Paradise 8x Islands 8x Swamps The basic gist of the SB is to counter MonoRed and U/W anti-mono-red. I'd consider 2 more Paradi, so I could include 4 Cities of Solitude (real fun against U/W) and 4 Honorable Passages. Probably won't though, this trick essentially lost me the last PTQ... it helped a LOT getting through the ladder, as I played a solid U/W deck that I would have lost to w/o City of Sol; but against the inimitable Mr. Burn I lost the last match to a mana-screw where I drew one Paradi =( To deal with both, an added Coercion and Agonizing Memories in SB. 3 Matrices, to counter the AEther Flashes that will DESTROY my deck =) Maybe 4 187 Knights, if I see the use to them...probably not though.
