Subject: Re: Extended Deck for Critique Date: Wed, 7 Jan 1998 14:26:55 -0500 From: Erik Lauer Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy Your deck looks quite good to me, though as I the deck it has 60 cards. Personally I would start 4 force of will -- they are just "that good". I would not start land tax unless you think the players in your area are just going to play more land than you even when you have tax out. Your deck needs to get a bunch of land out to do much, so a good player probably just won't let you tax. Could be a good sideboard card against many decks though. Here is what I would have the deck look like: White: (8) 4 STP 2 Wrath 2 Disenchant Blue: (20) 4 counterspell 4 force of will 1 dissipate 4 impulse (a little slower than the tutor, but no card loss -- and can get land!) 1 recall 1 amnesia 3 Moti Djinn 2 browse Artifact: (6) 3 disk (so flexible, so powerful). 2 mind stone (also a cantrip...) 1 scroll rack Land (26): 4 thawing glaciers 4 tundra 4 wasteland 9 island 5 plains Many decks use 4 wastelands, so I wouldn't go outposts unless you are either playing weenie (and even getting just 1 dude out of it isn't so bad -- especially if you are using crusade), have interdicts to protect them, or other really juicy targets (like enough thaws). On the other hand, thaw is fine. If it gets wasted right away, so what. And even if it just survives once, you have an extra land in play! Erik
