Subject: 5cG Redux Date: 12 Feb 98 22:16:03 EST From: John.P.Wiggins@Dartmouth.EDU (John P. Wiggins) To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com I have been playing and playtesting A. Isaksson's deck(Deck Workshop-Current). I like the versatility of the deck and the speed of the Tradewind/Geddon combo. The one thing that I find problematic is the lack of Winter Orbs. This really hurts the deck against many other decktypes(Necro, Counterburn, Canyon Stasis, and oddly enough, Sligh). I do believe that his deck is a _very_ good tool against most Cursed Scroll decks and the other 5color decks(green, white, and black). With this in mind I tried to put my money where my mouth is and construct something that has the advantages of his 5cG without the aforementioned disadvantages of going sans Winter Orb. Here's what I made and have been playtesting extensively. It currently is my most winning deck(defeats all the february "Decks to beat," as friends and I have playtested), but admittedly has a problem when facing decks which use 3-4 Perish. The SB has tried to correct for this, but as always, it's the luck of the draw. Other than that, I am more confident with this deck than anything else at the moment: 4 Birds of Paradise 4 Quirion Ranger 4 Granger Guildmage 4 River Boa 4 Jolrael's Centaur 4 Wall of Roots 2 Uktabi Orangutan 2 Disenchant 4 Armageddon 4 Incinerate 3 Tradewind Rider 3 Winter Orb 4 Undiscovered Paradise 3 Gemstone Mine 2 City of Brass 9 Forest SB: 3 Honorable Passage 3 Pyroblast 2 Disenchant 1 Uktabi Orangutan 2 Terror 4 Sleight of Mind JP john.p.wiggins@dartmouth.edu
