The other tourny was a PTQ with a horrible horrible 5th-Visions sealed deck. First I'll admit to be a sucky tournament deck constructor as any of my original deck ideas always lose to the worst deck Ben Drago can come up with :-). I've been playing Mundugu-Orb in the little Type II tournaments that MatchPlay organize in the weekends and it's doing ok. Looking at the dojo deck list and the predictions of the good players I realized I wouldn't survive round one in the regionals with it. [mundugu orb can't handle cursed scroll, which everyone plays with] The week before the regionals I read the Dojo, newsgroups, The Duelist article about Sligh, and came up with my own 'Sucky Sligh'. Why sucky? Because I didn't have 4 Cursed Scrolls, 4 Pyroblasts, 4 Jackal Pups, 4 Disks, and I didn't know how to sideboard (vs White Weenie). It took me about 3 hours total to put this together, using one of the many Sligh variants on the net as a base. I'm getting old and I don't have such good memory so the round summary will be very short. Round #1 - NecroGolem burn, burn, burn. quick end Round #2 - NecroBottle ? (I didn't see the Necro get played) burn, burn, burn, quick end Round #3 - another sligh or SRB I get lucky and get my stuff out first. Round #4 - Casey's WW On the last game I only had 2 Mountains out. He puts out a creature, I kill it. Then he mows me down with the Soltari Priest until we are both at 1 life. I draw a Fireblast and kill him. At that time, the record is 4-0, I feel numb. I can't believe it's not butter! Maybe I'm not such a bad player after all. Round #5-8 I forgot. The day is long I didn't get a good sleep and blablabla. I did remember losing awfully to Corey Strock and another player with White Weenie and someone with a Tradewind deck. 5-3 is my score with a 1-day preparation deck. I don't feel any better or worse because I didn't expect anything from it. I suppose I should be glad I won a match against Casey cos everyone was saying I should but it's just a game ... no ?
