Well, I won't even bother posting the shit deck I played which i went 1-2-1
with before dropping. I'll just tell you all what I saw working and what I saw
sucking.

Round 1
I was playing against some shithead who didn't know how to play prosperous
bloom who managed to stall for a draw. In the third match, i lopotomized out
his prosperities after i had already countered all his abeyances and he played
no cities of solitude (idiot). at this point he already had out bloom and
squandered resources, but i had a COP Black out so it was my game. If I had 1
more turn i coulda torched the asshole for 2 and won.
WHAT I SAW NEXT TO ME: To my left I saw Jeff Broido playing a WW deck w/ blue
for counters. He was playing against a weird B/U deck, which actually won one
game for that guy. Jeff went on to take the match with a weenie beatdown and
light counterspell control, AND a well timed geddon! To my right, well, i
don't remember what I saw, must not of been that spectacular.

Round 2
I played against a scrub sligh deck. First match I basically took a beating
cause i drew 3 islands while holding a wrath and gerrards, and only drew one
plains after that. Game 2 I get out a second turn COP red, third turn chill,
Gerrards turn 4, and wrath turn 5. I get a Sacred Mesa out, which my opponent
had no answers for, and it was just a matter of time till I gave him the
chicken beatdown. Game 3 i drew two nonbasic land, and my opponent drew 2
wastelands. NEXT!!
To My left was the guy i just drew against playing bloom. he wsa playing
against a 5cu deck. As far as I could tell, the bloom shithead was losing.
GOOD. To my right, I saw sligh and ww battle it out with ww taking it.
Record: 0-1-1

Round 3 Some weird G/U awakening tradewind thing
I dunno what this guys problem was. I had an answer for everything he had.
after i wrath the second time, he told me how many cards i had in my hand,
which was 7, then he conceeded. i guess he assumed they were all counters,
gerrards, and wraths. too bad it was 5 land and 2 disenchants. Game 2 was the
same, but he conceeded once my sacred mesa hit. He had sided out all his
enchantment removal cause he hadn't seen the mesa the first game.
record: 1-1-1

Round 4 teammate of round 3 guy playing the same thing
match 1=many weenies, counters my wrath, game. match 2 similar thing, but i
hold out much longer. i draw only 2 counters, and he geddons late in the game
while he has out a tradewind and 2 other creatures. i conceeded.
record: 1-2-1=DROP

well, as far as i could tell in the early rounds, WW was dominating the field.
i saw it played at many of the top tables. sligh was also doing fairly well,
as were a couple of 5CR decks. the bloom players sucked. Black weenie did
alright, as did some necro decks. It'll be interesting to read some more
Southern California results to see what made the top 8.
