Subject: Tempest Constructed Scroll Burn Deck Date: Sun, 09 Nov 1997 00:11:08 -0500 From: Doug Hyatt To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Hi, the following All-Tempest deck won a local Tempest constructed tournament. It's your basic Sligh deck, but with some interesting Tempest discoveries: *Pallimud -- surprisingly strong. We call him 'Big Daddy P' because he gets really big when combined with a weenie assault. They're always having to do something to stop the onrush. *Sandstone Warrior -- a dragon whelp. *Cursed Scroll -- an extremely powerful card, can be more powerful than a Hammer for Sligh! Don't believe me? Try it out! Here's the deck, "Scroll Burn": 17x Mountain 4x Wasteland 4x Cursed Scroll 2x Searing Touch 4x Kindle 4x Lightning Blast 1x Rolling Thunder 4x Mogg Fanatic 4x Jackal Pup 4x Fireslinger 4x Canyon Wildcat 4x Pallimud 4x Sandstone Warrior Sideboard 4x Mogg Hollows 4x Forest 4x Tranquility 3x Shatter Sideboarding is simple. The only real threats to the deck from the Tempest block are blue and white enchantments. I usually sideboard out the wastelands, 4 mountains, touches, 1 warrior, and the thunder to bring in the 8 green mana and the tranquilities. Against a mono-color deck packing wastelands, you can sideboard out your wastelands and bring in forests just to have all basic land. Enjoy! D. Hyatt (hyatt@cs.utk.edu)
