Subject: Counterhammer Decklist Date: Wed, 3 Dec 1997 20:06:17 -0500 (EST) From: MagkMan598@aol.com To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com The following decklist can be credited in design in part to Pat Chapin and myself, although, mad props go out to Erik Lauer who came up with the original post-Tempest counterhammer concept. Here's Erik's original Counterhammer decklist: 13 island 9 mountains 4 reflecting pool 2 searing touch 4 incinerate 4 hammer 4 disk 4 whisper 4 disrupt 4 counterspell 4 dissipate 4 dismiss Now, here's the newly revised decklist: 4 Counterspell 4 Dissmiss 4 Dissipate 2 Disrupt 4 Whispers of the Muse 4 Impulse 4 Incinerate 2 Earthquake 1 Fireball 3 Hammer of Bogardan 3 Nevinryal's Disk 1 Shatter 2 Quicksand 1 Undiscovered Paradise 4 Reflecting Pool 7 Mountain 10 Island Noteable revisions include the main deck shatter, 2 quake and 4 impulse. The impulse usually fetch land in the early game, and grab whispers or something needed in the mid to late game. Quakes give the deck an edge over 5cb and 5cg clones. The deck has been played on a local level of late by Jeff Sluzenski, Pat Chapin, and myself. The main deck shatter was added as a local metagame decision, as Winter Orb wrecks the deck. Also, the Undiscovered Paradise replaced the Caldera Lake in a less-recent version for similiar reasons. The deck's sideboard should look something along the lines of the following: 4 Hydroblast 4 Pyroblast 3 Shatter 2 Propaganda 1 Nevinryal's Disk 1 Earthquake Steal Enchantments should be added to the sideboard in numbers based on the amount of ProsBloom expected. Other adjustments should also, of course, be made accordingly to the local enviroment. If you have questions, comments, or PHONE NUMBERS , I can be reached at MagkMan598@aol.com. J.
