Subject: [Deck] T2 Multi Color White Weenie Date: Thu, 6 Nov 1997 03:17:46 PST From: Sami Tikka How is it with white weenie in today's T2, which was influenced more by Tempest than any other set ever. I mean white weenie like it is in Extended, splash colors and everything. Main questions are: Is it fast enough and is it able to survive with today's Blue deck (Capsize and early disruption). Red is indeed fast, but white is propably most efficient color to hose burn. Unless red deck is packing some environment control, other than speed, like Jokulhaups. Here are cards that I was thinking (for a multi-color white splash deck): *Soltari Priest This is obvious add to white's power. *Soltari Foot Soldier Unfortunately, there still is not anything like savannah lions for white in T2. White is I guess only color which doesn't have many good 1cc creatures. Tundra Wolves, maybe? At least this gets through and if not, kills some shadow creature. *Whim of Volrath It has to be good. With so many prot. from X creatures, that this kind of white utility deck packs. Turns almost any creature in this deck into hoser. And note the low casting cost: U and 2 to buyback. *Flickering Ward Funny. Two cards fighting for same slot. See above. This is cheaper, though. But restricts player to keep W open. *Main deck Circle of Prot: Red With Whim of Volrath it is almost never a wasted draw. *A good replacement for Swords. Pacifism, Volrath's Curse or additional red spell with Incinerate? Volrath's Curse looks superior to Pacifism, but if they just dump a basic land to get rid of its effect every turn, it works little bit poorly. Pacifism cannot be played on Wilfie, Mogg Fanatic... Have anyone any ideas? *Good cantrip. Abeyance still has some power, and because this deck needs to stop red's and blue's nasty instants, I see no reason, why people would just throw it away because it doesn't stop mana sources. Lotus Petal Even if it is against all the card-advantage theories I know, card-advantage seems to be turning to time advantage. And it doesn't even reduce the need for lands. Is tithe better? A sample deck: Creatures: 1cc 4 Soltari Foot Soldier This is testing, I don't know this or Tundra Wolves (1/1 first str.) 2cc 4 Knights of the White Shield 4 Soltari Priest 2 White Knight 3cc 4 Man o' War 2 Serrated Biskelion 4cc 3 Wildfire Emissary It's Whimmable. Spells: 4 Whim of Volrath Hey, if you play it on Wildfire, they cannot bounce it with Capsize or Man o' War. This, with flickering Ward is the spell white was needing. 1 CoP: Red Removal: 3 Armageddon Good old Armageddon still remains powerful as what. Especially with Buy-back spells. 4 Incinerate Creature removal and game-ender. 2 Pacifism Still testing. 3 Disenchant Use them at Diamonds, Maro-armor, Teferi's Veil, Eladamri's Vineyeard... Absolute must. 2 Abeyance Lands: 4 Flood Plain They thin deck, and Thalakos Lowlands is little bit too slow, I think. 4 Undiscovered Paradise 2 Gemstone Mine 12 Plains Choose to not play with Lotus Petal. The deck is fast enough on it's own. -Sami Tikka ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
