Subject: Need suggestions on new deck Date: Thu, 23 Oct 1997 10:30:38 -0600 From: Scot McCulloch Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy I wanted to make a new deck which would give the me a land advantage over my opponent. Originally, I used a red/green deck, but I changed it to red/black since black seems to be the better color for a quick kill. The idea was to keep my opponent weak by destroying lands quickly, allowing me to cast some relatively weak creatures which could attack for a quick victory. Some of the creatures used have special features such as no summoning sickness, destroying land if they are killed, and dealing damage to other creatures when they are killed, can be blocked by only creatures with specific colors, etc. I also threw in card that would quickly destroy the opponent's creatures as quickly as possible when they come out. Here's what I came up with: (a * means a card can destroy 1 land) Red Cards: 1 Keeper of Kookus 1 Fire Imp 1 Ambush Party 1 Raging Goblin 2 Fire Snakes * (would use 4, but 2 is all I have) 1 Spitting Drake 1 Bogardan Firefiend 1 Suq 'Ata Lancer 1 Goblin Scouts 1 Lava Axe 1 Lava Flow * 4 Stone Rains * 1 Rain of Salt ** 1 Fireblast --- 18 Black Cards: 1 Razortooth Rats 1 Skeletal Crocodile 1 Lim-Dul's High Guard 1 Insidious Bookworm 1 Mischievous Poltergeist 1 Odylic Wraith 1 Python 1 Craven Knight 1 Feral Shadow 2 Blight * 1 Rain of Tears * 1 Choking Sands * 1 Terror 1 Funeral March 1 Hand of Death 1 Dark Banishing --- 17 Mana: 12 Red 12 Black 2 Quicksand --- 61 cards total Don't know how I got 61. I guess I put one more in than I intended somewhere. This deck can destroy 13 lands total. It seems to work well against most decks, and especially well against powerful, large-creature decks where casting costs are high. Any suggestions on improvement? -- -Scott McCulloch (a.k.a.
