Subject: The Jooky! Deck (It's a party in a can!) Date: Tue, 07 Oct 1997 16:02:14 -0500 From: AARON SOUDERS To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Before we begin things, let me dedicate this deck to the man who made the original conception, Bill Macey of the AustiKnights. God Bless you for letting me enjoy myself with a deck that is so damn funny. Type II is filled with too much weird shit these days, so I decided it was time to go all out. (It's all about Jack Moves, McFly) The Jooky Deck is a Type II Legal Deck that generally can provide a 10,000 + point Karavek's Torch on the fifth turn without using an infinate engine. Intrigued? Of course you are. Truly feeling that Prosperous-Bloom was not degenerate enough for the world to witness, Bill Macey showed me the idea of using Early Harvest, Summer Bloom (yes, that Summer Bloom), Mana Flares and Prosperities to create a hideous torch. I first laughed, and then enjoyed watching him beat the hell out of someone with it in about four turns. I wrote the deck down, took out the weird shit he had in it like City of Brass, Lion's Eye Diamond, and a few others and added some sauce cards. (i.e. Noble Benefactor, Three Wishes, etc.) So while running a Pro Qualfier in Indianapolis, I got to entertain a small croud of 40-50 people with this deck, and have since then been pressured to post it on the Dojo. So, I finally must relinquish the secret, and the Type I resemblence is almost comical. The Components: 9 X Island 9 X Forest 6 X Mountain 4 X Mana Flare 2 X Karavek's Torch 1 X Final Fortune 4 X Prosperity 4 X Impulse 4 X Mystical Tutor 4 X Noble Benefactor (What the hell?!?!?!) 1 X Diminishing Returns 1 X Three Wishes 4 X Early Harvest 4 X Summer Bloom 2 X City of Solitude 1 X Soldevi Digger Now, granted, this is a fun deck, because it is awful quirky, but then again so was Sands-Poise. The Natural Order of Progress (assuming your opponent loves Mana Flare) Turn One: Drop an Island, Mystical Tutor for something. Turn Two: Drop a Forest, Impulse for something. Turn Three:Drop a Mountain, drop Mana Flare.(Please don't disenchant this, you'd be surprised how many people don't if they've never seen the deck before) Turn Four:(This is where it gets complicated folks) -Drop A Land -Tap all the land, Early Harvest -Tap all the land, leave 2 green mana and 1 something, prosperity for nine. -Summer Bloom out more land, play more mana flares, early harvest some more, prosperity some more, Final Fortune to reset if necessary, Drop the digger, recurse Early Harvests with 1 Point Prosperities until your opponent has no more cards in their library. Dig until the torch is in the top three cards of your library, Three Wishes to protect it from Diminishing Returns. Diminish, Prosperity your library, Harvest Recursion until opponent's library is extinguished, repeat until you have to Diminish again. Keep doing this until you get real bored and Torch them (I got a 20,000 point one a couple of days ago. That's entertainment) The major problem for this deck is of course blue, but the sideboard holds 4 Pyroblasts, another 2 Cities, and 3 Mana Webs for the eternally bored. Those help get the city out and keep it out while you Jooky your opponent to the 7th Level of Hell. Don't laugh. I have actually won tournaments with this thing, and with Tempest's Intuition and other fetchers, the deck might get better, even though it loses the digger and Diminsh. Oh,well. If you need something fun to play for a couple of hours. Break out the Jooky Deck and laugh at your opponent in the midst of Torching them far past death. After all, it is a party in a can.
