Subject: {DECK] Land-free late game :-) Date: Sun, 5 Oct 1997 19:07:04 +0000 From: Adam =?UNKNOWN-8BIT?Q?G=B1siorowski?= This deck is based on one of overlooked cards from Visions - Desolation. It performed especially well against mono-red (actually it killed it), did ok against R/G (Sanstalkers, burn, mana-producers) and White Weenie (but I was lucky - no Disenchant in time; 2 damage a land hurts). It will *probably* die a horrible death against diamond-heavy decks, thou it is not certain (those are not weenie decks in most cases so if I manage to kill those few fatties like Maro I can overrun him with swarm or Necromancy out his own critter for the kill). It is very improtant to have Desolation in play as soon as you are able to cast it. If you have a Swamp, Dark Ritual and Desolation in your opening hand don't hesitate do cast it right away - if your opponent will play an mana elf he will loose a land and then you can kill it with Contagion. Most spells are 2 CC , some 3CC. Here's the deck: Creatures: 4 Knight of Stromgald 4 Black Knight 4 Fallen Askari 1 Nekrataal # AIH and it's 4 CC 1 Ishan's Shade # Dark Ritual helps to cast it, also Necromancy. Creature Control (too little?): 2 Terror # Was Abyssal Gatekeeper - people StPed him away... 2 Contagion Disruption: 4 Pox # If Desolation came to late... 2 Desolation 2 Coertion # Remove land from hand on 1st turn if you can. Utility: 3 Necromancy # Guess... 1 Kaevek's Spite 2 Demonic Consultation Mana: 4 Coal Diamond # Can live without it but it helps. Ideal situation is Desolation, 2 Diamonds and Sheltered Valley in play :-) 4 Dark Ritual # Helps in fast start and in Desolation-enviroment is very good. 3 Sheltered Valley # Work AMAZINGLY well with Desolation. One life a turn when there is not enough land to play 12 point Fireballs... 19 Swamp # Overall 21 land. As I can say from play experience it is enough. After the lock is on I usually get out of range of DD thanks to Sheltered Valley and then 'ping' with small creatures. Diamonds and Ritual help to get that second black mana. I had 2 Pilar Tombs of Aku in this deck but removed it as sometimes I wasn't able to cast it (or it was pointless because I would end up taking demage myself). No sideboard yet - will probably include sth like 2 Nevirall's Disk, 4 Dystopia, 2 Ebony Charm...Anything more (enviroment here is mostly R/G, some mono-black buried alive, some W/G with geddons and W/U.
