From: "Jamie C. Wakefield" Subject: Thank you Wotc! - Green Date: 29 Jun 1997 11:42:22 GMT I would like to thanks WOTC for listening to my/our pleas. I have been cleaning up in arena lately with a solid green deck, (no, I don't have any stupid winter orbs in it. Suprisingly, no disks either.) and just took second with the deck in a local tournament. Comics and Collectibles had a type 2 tourney last night, and since I haven't won my requisite box of cards yet, I put together my regionals deck (big blue beatdown) and planned on taking that. I really wanted to take my solid green Arena deck, but hey, ranking points are on the line, and solid green sucks. The Lovely Mare and I spend the day planting rose bushes all day and I don't get a chance to get into town until 4:30, and I get two matches of Arena in before the tourney starts. I take on a counterpost deck and a solid white weenie, and smoke them both in two with my solid green. Feeling pretty good, I decide that I will play my solid green deck, and see what hapens. Its probably the last time I'll be able to play solid green once ice age rotates back in, so, this is my last chance. We end up getting 22 people, so five rounds of swiss, top 4 play off. I take second, losing in the finals to some bad, nay, supernaturally uncanny horrible draws to a red/green attack on the first turn deck. And despite my arguments to the contrary, I will post the deck, so all the green mages out there can finally revel in our new equality!!! Also, I beat Ira's counterpost deck twice - once in the qualifying rounds, and once to get into the finals, so that made me day more than anything. Ogre Beatdown _____________ 3 ghazbans 3 river boa 3 dervish 4 elves 4 yavimaya ants 4 Uktabi Wildcats - Bigger than a Force in one game!!!! 2 Stampeding wildebeats (eat this counterpost boy - have some trample) 3 giant growth 3 armor of thorns 2 aspect of the wolf (hey, don't laugh, sometimes it works great!) 3 Creeping mold 2 Hurricane 2 desert twister ( killed a horde and force of nature with these) 24 basic forests side 4 emerald charms 4 roots of life 3 city of solitude 1 ghazban 1 river boa 1 dervish and any card of your choice! Mix to taste gotta go, just realized I'm late for sealed deck states. Good luck to all the green mages out there -- Jamie Wakefield Bard of the Five Colors of Death 18th at Pro Tour 1 in NY Just about Dead Last at Pro Tour Dallas Ranked #272 in Type 2
