Subject: [DECK] Cuneo Fish! Date: Wed, 23 Sep 1998 16:13:12 -0700 From: "Thomas J. Wallis" To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com HeyHeyHey, I'm still researching for my next strategy article, which will examine Weissman's "the Deck". But, for those of us who are waiting with baited breath (what the hell is baited breath, anyway?), here's a deck to tide you over. I don't know if Cuneo is the best word for this deck, because I'm not all that familiar with it (I mainly play T1, for crying out loud!), but it seems to be an apt description. Anyway, here we go: 21 Island 2 Syveunite Temple 1 Horn of Greed 2 Equlibrium (a tech choice, and bounce is good) 4 Manta Riders (fear the flying fishmen!) 4 Tidal Warrior (how convienent, an island to walk over) 2 Merfolk Looter (a decent card, quasi-combo with brooch if you don't like your next draw) 4 Rootwater Hunter (I've always been partial to Tims, and he's MERFOLK!) 4 Lord of Atlantis 1 Rainbow Efreet 2 Man-O-War (originally had 4, but sometimes had to bounce something of my own, which is bad) 2 Tradewind Rider (he's just so damn BA-ROKEN!) 2 Null Brooch (resuable counter, chaeper than Benji) 2 Ertai, Wizard Adept (reusable counter, but a tad bit mana-intensive. I like the brooch better, but sometimes you just can't let that 'Goyf or Verdant force come out. Plus you don't have to discard you hand, whoch is nice) 4 Impulse 1 Aladdin's Ring (the Shotgun itself!) 2 Cursed Scroll (less mana intensive as the shotgun, combos with brooch. Betcha never though you'd see this in a BLUE deck, now didja??) ------------------- 60 cards (if my math's right) SB: Beats the hell out of me. Something with Sea Sprites, Counterspells, PhyFurns, and Capsizes, but you'll have to metagame it to what you play the most games against. I've though about splashing in red for the dwarven miner (a under-used, under-rated, totally phat Mirage uncommon who'll eat a non-basic for 2R. He also only takes 1R to cast, and is a 1/2. And the quote is pretty damn funny, too), but that would really change part of the deck's focus (beatdown) for the other, lesser part (control). Not to mention I would have to add in Mox Diamonds, caldera Lakes, etc. for him. Oh well. The reason why this deck is pretty cool, I think, is that it combines element of sligh-style fish beatdown, and the permission/control element of cuneo. And the fact that its pretty self-explanitory and easy to play is great, too. But hey, if you don't like it, don't build it.
