Subject: [Deck]T2 Resourceless Date: Wed, 16 Sep 1998 04:10:49 PDT From: "Ian Dunlap" To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com -------------- Resourceless 4 Limited Resources 3 Wall of Essence 3 Capsize 4 Counterspell 2 Forbid 4 Mana Leak 3 Propaganda 2 Treasure Trove 4 Tradewind Rider 3 Wall of Tears 3 Crystalline Slivers 14 Islands 10 Plains I leave the sideboard to individual taste. This deck has performed well locally with a sideboard comprised of Chill (Sligh/Burn), Light of Day (Suicide Black), and Legacy's Allure (Creature Heavy). The deck plays like a control deck early on, with some appearances from the walls and the Crystallines. Most people I have played have mentioned Counter/Sliver before they see it go off. Then the Tradewinds hit the table followed by a Limited Resources. When people see what's going to happen and it's pretty much game from that point. Those that don't quit right away have thought that they would be able win via creatures, but they forget that Propaganda has a cost, with which they have no means to pay. In addition the whole time I am taking away their land, I am still sitting on counters and Capsizes. This deck has existed in a couple of variations. Originally I had Mox Diamonds in it to speed it up, but realized that a Mox is a dead draw late game. More importantly though, you want to race and get 5 lands on the board faster than your opponent. Playing moxen defeats that purpose. Another change was taking Whispers of the Muse out for Treasure Trove. Whispers was put in to assist with locating land after Limited Resources had been played. It was constantly getting countered though. I found that the Trove would get countered as well, but that a Limited Resources often would slip by afterwards without being countered. The deck originally had two Disenchants, in order to deal with Oaths and annoying artifacts. I found that it was better not to let them hit the table in the first place so added some Forbids in their place. I went ahead and put one back in main deck after a couple of games where drawing one would have won me the match. I welcome any feedback on this deck and suggestions for it's improvement.
