Subject: The Cuddly Deck Date: Sun, 13 Sep 1998 09:56:33 +0100 From: "Simon Kennerley" To: This deck has just been used at Gencon UK where it filled 3 of the top 4 slots in the Type 2 Tourney. 4 x Recurring Nightmare 4 x Survival of the Fittest (or should it be Fattest!) 2 x Living Death 4 x Wall Of Blossoms 4 x Wall of Roots 2 x Spike Feeders 1 x Spike Weavers 1 x Thrull Surgeon 1 x Man o War 1 x Fallen Angel 1 x Spirit of the Night 1 x Mogg Fanatic 2 x Orangutans 1 x Stampeding Wildebeests 2 x Tradewind Riders 1 x Nekrataal 1 x Verdant Force 1 x Hermit Druid 1 x Coffin Queen 1 x Cloudchaser Eagle 1 x Vampiric Tutor 1 x Fire Storm 4 x BOP 23 Land made up with Reflecting pools, undiscovered, Gemstone mines, Strongholds, Pain lands and about 9 basics lands made up of forests and swamps. Sideboard: 1 x Cloudchaser Eagle 1 x Phyrexian Furnace 1 x Nekrataal 1 x Oath of Ghouls 3 x Lobotomy 2 x Pyroblast 1 x Hall of Gemstones 1 x Boil 1 x Emerald Charm 1 x Staunch Defenders 2 x Null Rods This decks wins by using the Survival and the Nightmare to recycle the 187 creatures in the deck. Against Black the Weaver is king and is used to slow the damage until a nightmare can be found to recur the weaver. Against red the defence is the walls and getting a recurring spike feeder to gain life. Against blue the stornghold forces the blue player count the threat cards over and over again. White Weenie is also stopped by the wall but the shadows can cause problems unless you get both a Mogg and a Nekrataal. Once a soft lock of 187 creatures is in place the Force(the Big Guy) and the Spirit(the guy with everything) can be recurred and beatdown happens. Against other Cuddly decks the coffin queen can animate the Spirit and then if needed removed from the game. This can be repeated as needed. Remember also to activate the Nightmare as soon as played against white decks as it makes the nightmare undisenchantable. Other options for creatures are Orcish Settlers and Dwarven Miner for LD.
