Subject: Deck Date: Wed, 02 Sep 1998 07:48:51 -0400 From: Paul Gregory To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Well I decided to take those old dusty dragons out of my box and use them in a counter hammer deck. It has won two tournaments because nobody was expecting it. The Dragon Blue Spells 4 Dissipate- counters Gaes Blessing quite effectively 4 Counterspell- counters major threats 4 Teferis Veil- makes the dragons phase out when they attack so the Zirilan loses track of it and the dragon will stay in play. 2 Forbid- reusable counter 2 Mist dragon- waste 2 fireblasts on it castable in the deck. Red Spells 3 Hammer of Bogarden-beatdown 2 Volcanic Dragon- I like the picture, castable 2 Shivan Dragon- cool ability, castable 2 Crimson Hellkite- the first dragon you search for so you can knock off shadow 4 Zililan of the Claw- search for dragons hit opponent for 4-9 damage. key. Black 2 Catacomb Dragon- Powerful Ability 8 power flying creature can kill it. White 2 Alabaster Dragon- if they die you can hit them again, shuffle ability Green 2 Canopy Dragon- Trample, Trample Artifact 2 Cursed Scroll- Shadow kill 2 Scroll Rack- Get the uncastable dragons back in the deck so you can search for them and shuffle. Land 10 island 10 Mountains Sideboard- 2 capsize 4 havoc 4 Firestorm 2 cursed scroll 3 hydroblast The object of this deck is to counter a lot control the board long enough that you can cast Zirilan of the Claw and Teferi's Veil. So I have Zirilan out and the Veil lets see I pay 1 and 2 red search for um...Crimson Hellkite attack it phases out at the end of combat so it stays in play next turn. Uh... I activate zirilans ability search for Alabaster attack phases stays in play. The scroll racks are in to get the uncastable dragons out of your hand so you can search for them w/ zirilan and shuffle. Mass destruction kills this deck. Wrath of god, Armageddon, Extinction, Winds of rath. Then living death kills it pretty bad. This deck is fun and versatile if you don't believe me play it yourself.
