Subject: A different Oath of Druids deck Date: Sun, 23 Aug 1998 18:16:24 EDT From: Tdawgs007@aol.com To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Frank, everyone seems to be playing Oath of Druids these days. Well the first version that i saw of the deck was made by Mike Donais, and with some variants to his awesome theme, i think my version of it is probrably the strongest of them all. I have some reasons for saying this. 1. The deck can actually win without the Oath 2. The deck controls the board through damage 3. Sylvan library is so strong in it. With spike feeders and firestorms, i pay 8 life to draw cards to thrrow away for firestorms, then gain it back. 4. The deck has spell shocks. Do they really want to cast that extra creature which will be ineffective so that they will take even more damage against a half damage deck. Plus, if they do target my Oath, they take damage for it. Also, i'll oath for a feeder and sack it out at the end of their turn for 4 life. Spell shock is not hurting me with that kind of life gain. Besides, i'm getting creatures from the oath already that i dont have to pay life for. 5. Pandemonium. It makes those spike feeders even more effective because now they damage your opponent. When you run across that ball lightning, it really hurts them too. 6 Firestorm can be a kill engine. Keep them at one creature, and keep blocking it then sacking out for life. Always target their head as well. 7. BTW, Kindle kills fatties when you turn over cards looking for creatures and there are three in your graveyard. 8. Gaes blessing. Here is your never ending engine. 9. Shattering pulse. It has a buyback. 10. No card is a bad pull in this deck because they can always be piched away to firestorm. The weekness of this deck is that it does not have an effective way to protect the oath. You dont need it! the deck works great without it and i can gaurantee that you will run into another very quickly because youve more than likely shuffled it back in and your using sylvans. I have beaten all the creature heavy formats with this deck and tradewind decks also. I have not played it against living death yet. However, if they living death, fine. Pull out all the creatures that are in your graveyard from your life gaining and attacking. Then Firestorm all of their nice fatties back to the grave yard where they belong. G/R Oath Land 5 Forest 5 Mountain 2 Mountain Valley 3 Karplusan Forest 2 Mogg Hollows 2 Reflecting Pool 1 Undiscovered Damage 3 Pandemonium 3 Spellshock 3 Firestorm 4 Kindle 4 Incinerate Combo 3 oath of Druid 3 Gaes Blessing 3 Sylvan Library you can always throw the extras away :-) Utility 2 verdant touch 2 Shattering Pulse Creatures 4 Spike Feeders 3 Ball Lighting 2 Bottle Gnome I like more life gain to power the deck. others may prefer something else in place of these. I would appreciate any comments. Richard Taylor Tdawgs007@aol.com
