Subject: [Deck] The Robotic Richard Simmons Date: Fri, 19 Jun 1998 14:32:38 +0000 From: "Matt Farney" To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Greetings, The Robotic Richard Simmons -Matt Farney 4 Volrath's Shapeshifter 2 Unstable Shapeshifter 3 Phryexian Dreadnoughts 4 Man O' War 3 Floodgate 3 Thalakos Seer 2 Suq'ata Firewalker 1 Air Elemental 4 Impulse 4 Counterspell 4 Mana Leak 2 Dissipate 2 Force Spike 18 Islands 4 Sylvenuite Temple Sideboard: 2 Legacy's Allure 3 Hydroblast 1 Dissipate 3 Energy Flux 2 Nevinyarrl's Disk 2 Jester's Caps 2 Interdict This deck has done extremely well around the local area, beating Sligh, White Weenie (traditional and multi-color), Donais, and Big Blue, TradewindGeddon, Prison, and DrawGo consistently. It went 3-2 at regionals, primarily due to inconsistent play on my part. This is not an easy deck to play. You must be fully aware of what your opponent is playing and be up to date on all rulings. Before they cleared up the shapeshifter rulings, this deck was almost broken (seers + shapeshifters + dragon mask = draw eff. unlimited cards in the old version). Now they are simply good =) It is effectively a big blue deck with teeth. 12 counters standard and 6 conditional counters in the side allow countering ability, and the cute yet effective Shapeshifter-Dreadnought combo can be quite potent on turn 20 or turn 6 ;) Perhaps the best thing about this deck is it's flexibility. If you play sligh, a third turn 12/12 is game. If you are playing another big blue deck, sneaking a firewalker or seer throught can be all that's necessary for victory. This deck is almost edict proof as well. Choosing Floodgates to be sac'd...sure. =) Enjoy.
