Subject: [Deck] Anti-Sliver Date: Thu, 11 Jun 1998 21:33:43 GMT From: mspeener@stratagemnet.com (Mark Speener) Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy I built this deck to specifically combat the outbreak of Counter Sliver. I won a really small tourney with it last night. I beat a Counter Sliver on the way to the final. Deck: Anti-Sliver v.64 4 Muscle Sliver Should be in any sliver deck. 4 Clot Sliver Make 'em hard to kill, 2 Barbed Sliver and pumpable. 3 Spined Sliver Better not block! Key card! 4 Heart Sliver Another key! 2 Heartstone Reduce costs for pump/regen. 2 Mirri's Guile Topdeck what you need. 1 Worldly Tutor Fetch a key sliver. Also a shuffler. 4 Wall of Blossoms Early D. 4 Diabolic Edict 4 Incinerate Creature control. 2 Overrun Kill card. Never drew it. Land: 2 Mox Diamond 5 Forest 3 Swamp 3 Mountain 1 Karplusan Forest 1 Pine Barrens 2 Mogg Hollows 1 Reflecting Pool 2 Cinder Marsh 1 City of Brass 2 Undiscovered Paradise 1 Gemstone Mine 1 Volrath's Stronghold This deck isn't a 4-5 turn kill deck. Get 3-4 different slivers out (Muscle, Heart, Clot), create creature parity then drop the Spined and attack. If you catch your opponent tapped out (expecting creature parity to keep you at bay) then you can regen what he can block and kill. If he doesn't block, pump the damn things up to 11. The land mix contains almost every non-basic land I own. The mix worked pretty good. I was never color screwed. I played most of one game with a Mox and a forest and won easily. I'm thinking of dropping the Overrun's altogether and adding another Heartstone and Stronghold. Heartstones make the deck play so much nicer. Strongholds are just too cool against any kind of creature control. No sideboard as of yet. Major problems I see are fliers. I haven't played it against any of the major archetypes yet to identify any other problems. Any suggestions?
