Subject: 5C Sliver Craft Date: Thu, 07 May 1998 04:42:40 PDT From: "James Lane" To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Hi Frank, I've not seen a Sliver/Earth craft deck published on the Dojo yet, and I'm currently playing this one I made with a good rate of success. The deck uses a combo basically ripped from the MesaCraft decks - Wild Growth/Earthcraft but with an added twist, Vitalize. The best bit is that in a multi-player game, if you get the right combination of Slivers out you can kill *everyone* in one go! OK here's the Deck, how to play it follows: "5C Sliver Craft" 4 Undiscovered Paradise 4 Gemstone Mine 4 City of Brass (Reflecting Pool might be a good substitute here) 2 Swamp 2 Island 2 Forest 2 Mountain 2 Plains (22 Land) 4 Metallic Sliver 3 Acidic Sliver 3 Muscle Sliver 3 Heart Sliver 3 Horned Sliver 3 Crystalline Sliver 2 Sliver Queen 1 Talon Sliver (22 Slivers) 4 City of Solitude 4 Earthcraft 4 Wild Growth 4 Vitalize 4 Vampiric Tutor (20 Spells) Sideboard: 3 Talon Sliver 3 Hibernation Sliver 3 Spined Sliver 3 Victual Sliver 1 Heart Sliver 1 Muscle Sliver 1 Horned Sliver (15 Slivers) Ok, General Playing tips and combos. Firstly the "infinite sliver" combo is pretty much the same as the MesaCraft combo - Wild Growth a land, play Earthcraft, play Sliver Queen. Tap the Growthed land for 2 to create a Sliver Token, tap the Token to untap the land and repeat as many times as you need. (1,000,000 slivers!) Now if you have a Heart Sliver out and Vitalize in your hand you can kill your opponent the turn that the Sliver tokens come into play. BLAT! If you are playing multiplayer then you also want an acidic sliver out. After the vitalize, tap a sliver to untap the Growthed land and spend tokens and mana to throw slivers at all your opponents for 2 damage per sliver. MULTI-BLAT! I generally drop the City of Solitude as early as possible to prevent my important slivers being countered. If your opponents are familiar with MesaCraft but not 5C Sliver Craft then you might want to keep the Wild Growth and Earth Craft in your hand until you can play them in one go, then they will think you're just playing a standard Sliver deck. If you have a Gemstone out and several basic lands (but no forest) you can reduce the time taken to get the queen out by Growthing one of the basic lands. Don't be afraid to use the tutors to get basic land if you are mana screwed. If you are getting near to dropping the combo, don't be afraid to let your opponent through to do damage, he's gonna get it back many times over! I'd love some feedback and/or suggestions for improvements on this deck.
