Subject: Tempest Constructed for critique Date: 3 Feb 1998 21:12:36 GMT From: millineum@aol.com (Millineum) Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy 4 Counterspell 4 Dismiss 4 Propaganda 1 Whispers of the Muse 2 Avenging Angel 2 Spirit Mirror 1 Staunch Defender 3 Winds of Rath 3 Disenchant 2 Helm of Possession 4 Cursed Scroll - work pretty good in this deck 1 Grindstone 2 Puppet Strings 1 Essence Bottle 2 Maze of Shadows 2 Thalakos Lowlands 3 Reflecting Pool 10 Island 9 Plains The basic design of the deck is to hold off creatures early in the game with Propagandas and Counters, then take control of the midgame with my life gainers to nullify their burn. The main creature control comes in the form of my Avenging Angels/Spirrit Mirror- Helm combo and the Winds of Rath. The Cursed Scrolls help in the early game if i have to empty my hand quick without suffering full consequences. Disenchants help fight Cursed Scroll and Scroll Rack. The late game win usually comes in form of me taking one of their creatures with Helm or beating them with my Angel. Usually though i win with the Grindstone. The deck is kinda slow but i usually come back winning with my card advantage.Once i get things going i will usually win. I've played in three Tempest tourneys and i have made the finals in all 3 of them playing my older version of this deck. Things i would like to add are some Scroll Racks and maybe another Staunch Defenders or possibly a Capsize which didn't work in earlier playtesting because of it's slowness. Thanks for reading this and critiquing it....
