Subject: Grim-Vineyard Date: Wed, 25 Mar 1998 11:39:46 -0800 From: Gregory Milton To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Well here is my attempts with a 'Damned if you do, damned if you don't' mix of cards like: 'The Pit', 'The Vineyard', 'The Bridge', and ...yeah, why not...'The Scroll'!! I've worked a lot of the bugs out of my original mix. The COP reds are standard because red is big everywhere and it is simple too fast for the deck. Red X spells or Drains are a danger in the mid-late game. For blue you have first-turn Vineyards and Scrolls plus the Pit. The bridge takes care of heavy creature decks pretty well, and Wall of Blossoms give extra protection and replaces itself. The Trap decks could be a pain. One of the things I like is the boarding. Against certain decks there are obvious certain cards to replace; like vs. Sligh, out go the megrims and I put in the Warmths and another COP. Against the Trap, out go the bridges and I play the monkeys and charms. Anyways, here it is: 4 Eladamri's Vinyard 4 Bottomless Pit 4 Megrim 4 Ensnaring Bridge 2 Fountain of Youth 1 Evincar's Justice 4 Cursed Scroll 4 Wall of Blossoms 3 Aura of Silence 2 COP Red 1 Kaevek's Torch 1 Vampiric Tutor 2 Mox Diamond 3 Stalking Stones 2 Reflecting Pool 3 Undiscovered Paradise 3 Gemstone Mines 2 Brushlands 6 Swamps 4 Forests 1 Plains So far the sidebord has been a constant but workable morph so I won't include it now. If anyone has insights or can send me a list of another version you've seen, I'd really appreciate it. I always play the top decks so I know how they work and how to beat them. Often I use them in tourneys because they're proven. I'm seem to much more enjoy and playing decks like these and I think they can be viable. Thanks for listening. Gregor
