Subject: Stronghold Type 2 Deck Date: Mon, 16 Mar 1998 23:51:43 EST From: X777xRazer To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Hi Frank, Here is a deck that I just can't stop thinking about, it's so good. It beats almost EVERYTHING. Really the only things that kill the deck are Geddon and Tradewind, and that's what Mana Leak/Cursed Scroll are for. I know it's not a very original deck type, but hopefully this version will be good enough to stand out from the pack. Without any further ado, the deck: "Ensnared" 4 Bottomless Pit 4 Megrim 4 Stupor 4 Dark Ritual 4 Mana Leak 2 Disenchant 4 Ensnaring Bridge 4 Cursed Scroll 4 Scalding Tongs 2 Mox Diamond >Note: 2 is the right number here. good for speed and dropping your hand early, but they stink late game when you draw one w/ Pit out. 8 Swamp 4 Quicksand 2 Underground River 2 City of Brass 2 Undiscovered Paradise >Note: Better than you think in this deck. 2 Reflecting Pool 1 Salt Flats 1 Lotus Vale Sideboard: 2 Zur's Weirding 3 Chill 2 Disenchant 3 Terror >Note: Needed against Tradewind. you can't always count on double scroll. 2 Perish 3 Dread of Night The deck is amazing. you might not think it's fun to play, but it's a blast! Being creatureless helps out against a lot of decks, and is good w/ Ensnaring bridge. I believe that the post-Stronghold enviroment will revolve around this and other enchantment and artifact based decks like PropaOrb and Awakening Bounce, so my prediction is that Serenity will become much more popular. Stock up now! I'd appreciate any comments and/or suggestions about the deck, although I do believe that it is in near-optimal form currently. Thanks, Cole Walsh-Davis
