Subject: Extended Turbo Jellybean Date: Sun, 29 Mar 1998 12:15:05 EST From: Yankees937 To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Below is my newest creation for Extended, a U/G deck with no less than 24 cantrips main deck. It was based on Alan Comer's Turbo-Xerox deck from last summer. Even though there are only 18 lands, you still end up with about 7 in play by the end of turn 9 (if you play your cards right). Commentary follows. Turbo Jellybean ('Jellybeans' being cantrips) Creatures 3 Erhnam Djinn 3 Waterspout Djinn 3 Man-O-War 4 Wall of Blossoms 1 Wall of Tears Direct Library Manipulation 4 Portent 4 Impulse 4 Brainstorm 2 Foresight Countermagic 4 Counterspell 4 Arcane Denial 4 Force of Will (KEY) 2 Disrupt Land 4 Tropical Island 2 City of Brass 1 Gemstone Mine 2 Forest 7 Island 2 Quicksand Sideboard 3 Uktabi Orangutan (Cursed Scroll mainly) 2 Creeping Mold 3 Emerald Charm 1 Unsummon 1 Man-O-War 2 Bottle Gnomes 3 Hydroblast I wanted to improve on Comer's Turbo Xerox idea by making a deck that casts cantrips quickly and counters whatever threating spells are cast. The basic idea is to cast a cantrip on the first turn, and every turn thereafter. You can go through half your deck by the tenth turn. When you cast Erhnam or Waterspout, make sure you can protect it with at least 2 counters. You can even have two beatdown creatures (not two Waterspouts) in play at once, since they're replacable. You know the cards to counter: Tradewind Rider, Armageddon, creaturekill on your gamewinners, etc. Try this deck; it's fun _and_ effective. Andrew Levine
