Subject: Deck Workshop Submission Date: Tue, 17 Feb 1998 19:15:28 -0500 From: Eric Phan To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com ----------------- Cap Control (W/U/G) (Feels similar to Cade's 'Prison' deck...) Defense/Creatures 4 Bottle Gnomes 2 Snake Baskets Utility 1 Enlightened Tutor 3 Disenchants 4 Gaea's Blessing 4 Gerrad's Wisdom 4 Jester's Caps 3 Mystical Tutors 2 Whispers of the Muse Creature Control 4 Nevinyrral's Disks 4 Quicksand 4 Wraths of God Mana 3 Adakar Wastes 3 Brushlands 1 Forest 1 Island 2 Marble Diamonds 3 Mind Stones 5 Plains 3 Undiscovered Paradise Sideboard (Haven't had time to make one yet) Off the top of my head: Disenchant Tariff Kind of a weird, crazy deck. It's better than it looks, though. Not too difficult to play either. It's basically about staying alive with Gerrad's Wisdom and Bottle Gnomes and neutralizing threats with Disks, Wraths, and Disenchants. When it's safe to do so, cap away! The artifact mana is to help deal with Winter Orbs and Armageddon (Ouch!), and to speed up the deck. Lots of card drawing/manipulation (Tutors, Whispers, Gaea's Blessing) help get the needed cards. Big threats to watch out for are Mana Killers (Dwarven Miner, which'll kill you, also the aforementioned Worb and Geddon) One thing you have to know how to use is the 'Cap. Against Necro, pull the Drain Lifes. Against PropOrb, the Worbs. Pretty much, first pull the biggest threats to you (Disenchant, Lobotomy). Subsequent caps should be used to take care of the main threats (Scrolls, Ball Lightning, etc.) The way this wins is usually by decking (or the opponent conceeding). The Gnomes and S. Baskets are mainly for defensive purposes. Last comment: the above listing is my own version. You may want to consider adding Earthquakes, Edicts or Incinerates. Personally, I don't care for them too much in this type of deck, but do what you like. Btw, if you use this in tourney, I'd be interested to know how you did. =) - Eric Phan Comments, praise, and cash is welcome =p
