Subject: lost but lookin Date: Sun, 15 Feb 1998 02:57:39 -0000 From: "Team Reaper,DCI" To: "NecroGnome-icon" by Wile, Team Reaper The first official posting from Team Reaper might seem like another type 2 Necro deck, sure, but after looking at the other postings of Necro Decks currently... i dunno. They're all remarkably similar... same peanut butter + different jelly = new sandwich? i think not, as does Team Reaper. Please note the absence of the latest "Crutch Card" ( the Accursed Cursed Scroll). 3 Necropotence (duh) 2 Scroll Rack ( this is a remarkable combo...not just the house... it's the whole trailer park) ...these two cards make the engine...now for the life to power it: 4 Bottle Gnomes (and...) 2 Corpse Dance ( oh dear, oh dear...) 2 Spinning Darkness ...lovely how this shapes up, no? lessee, what else? 3 Stupor 4 Funeral Charm 3 Nevinyrrals Disk (4 just gets in the way, IMHO) 4 Diabolical Edict 4 Incinerate 4 Kindle ( the card, not the girl...) 2 Drain Life 2 Dark Ritual ...and, of course... 2 Thundermare 1 Aku Djinn (some would swap out the Aku for another monster, but i like the sheer audacity of the Djinn. heh.) plus 2 Reflecting Pool 4 Cinder Marsh 15 Swamp that's it. draw, drain, pound; repeat. Incinerate/Kindle are obvious, and nothing beats the 'Dict...and the Funeral Charm is another overlooked creature controller, leaving you free to use Aku with relative impunity. Unfortunately, sometimes you just gotts cook'em, especially if they're running around without an army. Thundermare cannot be lauded enough, obviously, when it comes to sheer wreck factor. 5/5 w/ celerity and you're all over them like a duck on a june bug. i like it. oh yeah, sideboard? we're lookin at: 2 Vampiric Tutor 4 Wave of Terror ( you'll have tha mana, oh yes.) 3 Boil (getting it out might be a problem...) 2 Apocalypse ( yup. Apocalypse.) 2 Deathgrip 2 Havoc ...now Apocalypse might seem a bit much with the Disks in Main Deck, but with all of the Sligh Jockeys buzzin around out there like, umm.. well, like insects do... you can't be too careful. They've already shown that Overkill is the only kill, so drop it in their backyard instead. Careful, tho- it's liable to turn into a fast-effects fireworks show. In Necro timing is everything, especially with this baby. ...on a side note: you might notice that this deck is 63 cards. You're right. Team Reaper is a 9-man strong Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex -based Semi-Pro Team sponsored by Reaper Miniatures. Be sure and check out all of Reaper Miniature's Magic Life Counters and Tokens made specifically for MTG. y'know those snazzy abacus-style counters from the Duellist? Reaper did 'em. (end of prop).
