Subject: Rogue Deck: The Missing Link Date: Mon, 02 Feb 1998 18:46:35 -0800 From: "Tom Gibes and Co." Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy Well, here it is. I highly doubt anyone was waiting for this, but as you may or may not know, I made a promise to post a rogue deck monthly. I'm doing this to uphold the argument that Magic is a game of originality, and this game will only evolve through original concepts. So, here it is, my second installment of the Gibes Monthly Rogue Deck. The Missing Link Black: 4 Kezzerdix 4 Bellowing Fiends 4 Crypt Rats 4 Diabolic Edicts White: 4 Spirit Links 4 CoP: Black 4 Flickering Ward 2 Disenchants Gold: 2 Selenia, Dark Angels Artifact: 4 Bottle Gnomes Land: 4 Salt Flats 8 Plains 12 Swamps This deck may not seem like a competitor, but I was pretty impressed with early playtesting. The main card in this deck is Spirit Link. It's so impressive in a deck like this. It can be used to nullify an opponents creature, but it's even better if used on one of your own creatures. On Kezzerdix, the drawback is nullified. On Bellowing fiend, if it has Spirit Link on it, and it's blocked, you take no damage, but gain 6 life. And if it's put on Crypt Rats (Rats of God), well, you can gain an amazing amoung of life in a very short period of time. Now, if that Crypt Rats also has a Flickering Ward on it against black, then your opponent is in serious trouble, if they can't deal with it. Flickering Ward is a just a great card anyways. The CoPs are used to nullify the downsides of Bellowing Fiend, Kezzerdix, and Crypt Rats, so you don't have to solely rely on Spirit Link. The Bottle Gnomes are just an awesome card and can be used to reverse the damage you take or pay to Selena, Dark Angel, who I'm still unsure about. Well, there it is. If you're looking for an original, fun deck that's still competative, this should satisfy your needs. If anyone has any suggestions or comments, please throw them my way.
