Subject: T2-Jank Date: Thu, 29 Jan 1998 17:07:30 -0500 (EST) From: Eric R Reitz To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Recently I was talking to one of my frieds about how Jank would fair in the type II invironment. He didn't think it was possible due to the lack of multilands but I was sure the deck could be made, but was unsure how it would fair in the environment. I went to work trying to convert the deck and found it very easy to do. Here is my first version of T2-Jank 4 white knight 4 longbow archers 4 soltari priest 3 disenchant 2 aura of silence 2 spirtlink 4 incinerate 3 suq'ata lancer 3 franetic efreet 4 harrow 4 cursed scroll 4 undiscovered paradise 4 gemstone mine 2 mountain 1 island 1 forest 11 plains Notes: Lions were replaced with archers. They are somewhat slower on offence, but thier attacks are more consistant, and thier defence is far superior. Bolts became incinerates (DUH). Incinerates were droped for more artifact/enchantment controll that I feel should have been in the extended version anyway. Swords became spiritlinks. Not always as good as swords but sometimes better in a scroll deck. One exampe was when my opponent had no creatures due to the scroll, no artifacts/enchantments and I had a franetic and a scroll in play with 2 disenchants in hand. I drew a link and promptley enchant my franetic to maintain Uno. Tithes became harrow. Yes I added a 4th color, but I haven't been color screwed anymore than with the extended form mostly due to the increase of colored mana in the main. Factories?? No real replacement. Wasteland?? Not sure on these yet. They would either increase land count, increase color screw, or both. I am not sure if they are as important in T2 as extended either. The environment is very different and I am still unsure if Jank can compete with propa/orb or propa/geddon style decks, but it has been crushing other aggro and aggro/controll decks. Pox would probably give it fits but that happens in extended also.
