Gordon Culp, the database administrator, sent me an e-mail regarding the problem. As it appears, several DCI numbers which were originally planned for use in Europe have been sent to Japan accidentally. They were recalled, but not before some of these numbers were given out to Japanese players. The European numbers were also given out in the last few months, and this led to several DCI numbers in the 200,000 area representing two different players in Japan and Europe. As Gordon Culp told me, the DCI is now re-issuing new numbers to the Japanese players, and the European players can keep theirs. I am really glad the case can be settled that easy, and congratulate Gordon Culp for quick and decisive action. If that is a sign of a new DCI policy, I am really amazed about their change of mind.
