Subject: Deadguy Chicago Preview Update Date: Tue, 1 Sep 1998 14:00:31 -0400 From: Chris Pikula To: "'fkusumot@ix.netcom.com'" Some recent developments have mandated that my preview of Chicago continues. Some newly qualified folks are: Andrew Cuneo: Ever hear of Cuneo Blue? Well, this is the guy. One of the best Magic minds not yet permanently on the Pro Tour. Andrew is like Erik Lauer with hair. I once took a Marsh Lurker over a Rolling Thunder as a small favor to Andrew trying to qualify him; a few minutes later he counterdrafts an Edict from me. Andrew is also amazing at Type I and any format which includes Homelands lands. Dan OMS: The smaller and slower OMS is ready for Masters action. He is too old for the JSS by now anyway, I think. The big question: will Dan replace "To the air" with "I just *@#$ed her!"? Sources say yes. Aziz Al-Doory: Sure I mentioned him last time, but did I mention I'd like to have relations with him? A number of forgotten players from the past are rejoining the Pro Tour. I thought I'd go through some of the interesting people on the invite list so everyone knows what to expect. Aziz Al-Droory- Back to back PTs for Aziz if you don't count Worlds. I have a feeling the giggliest muffin of all-time is back on the tour to stay this time. You can count on him make numerous trips to the air in Chicago. If not, I'll still have relations with him. Patrick Albro- The forgotten sidekick of our nations only true hero Dennis Bentley is back. Pat has had many epic battles against Deadguys, Speds, and Canadians; the rest of the world will get a chance to see him in action again. Hashim Bello- So far Hashim's greatest achievement in Magic is scaring the hell out of Dave Dittmer at PT Atlanta. I once saw this guy kick a hole in the ceiling after losing to Glen Friedman. Not a man to be messed with. Bob Dove- For those of you who know Mike Dove, this is the less whiny version. Not completely un-whiny, just less so. We'll see if Bob can put the Dove family back on the map. Jason Opalka- The T2K is back. You know he is out to prove that he is no chumly. I'm personally looking forward for a match between Oompa and Randy Buehler, where Jason will try to use his size advantage to help him show who the real chumly is. Paul Ferker- I'm not even sure how many PTs Paul missed, but it appears that he is back and ready for action. Paul is the only person who watched my match win to make top 8 at PT Dallas. Ahhhhhhh Dallas..........Anyway, I'm glad to have Ferky back, he is the epitome of old-school. Adam Lemke- We're blessed with another Sped. Hopefully Adam can register a deck correctly. John Marks- the Marks clan is the pride of Ohio. Midwest Baby! And finally, the name that inspired me to write this: David Humphreys- my favorite Magic player of all-time. If you don't know Dave, you are truly missing out. Not only one of the greatest guys in Magic, but also an amazing deck builder and theorist. This guy invented Man-O-War. Dave better show up in Chicago despite his busyness with academic matters. I could go on and on about Dave Humphreys, but I guess I'll stop now. If anyone wants to know more, I'll be glad to tell stories in person or show you my autographed Dave Humphreys PT Paris decklist. Anyway, that is just a preview of some of the people I was happy to see qualified for PT Chicago. That doesn't mean I'm not going to beat them down if I play them, of course. Chris Pikula Team Deadguy
