I'm writing again because of DCI numbers, but this time it's not only about changes to my own - I would have used the other address I got from you - but about a seemingly general and systematic misuse of DCI numbers by your German license taker, AMIGO. When playing the Exodus prerelease in Dortmund a few months ago, I received DCI-# 208409, as I have already told you and AMIGO. This number is still listed as belonging to an unknown Japanese person, as are at least two other numbers given to new DCI players at the same tournament - these two were my friends. In the meantime, I have also informed the head judge of Exodus prerelease Dortmund about the situation with those numbers, and he promised me to contact AMIGO about it and make sure that he won't shell out any more numbers which are already in use by the DCI. On Saturday, we went to Urza's Saga prerelease Dortmund - same city, same location, same head judge. We filed our numbers, and one of our team members, who hasn't played sanctioned yet, got a new DCI number. I looked on his card, and saw the number: 208410. Angrily, I went to Gordon - the head judge - and confronted him with the situation. He told me that he had checked back with AMIGO, told them about the fuckup from last time and asked them to make sure that it wouldn't happen again. They told him that all the numbers he got for use with new DCI members were OK. Apparently, AMIGO didn't even bother to look it up, and is not interested in such complaints. When I checked the number personally today, I found the information about #208410: Unknown Japanese, with a Standard ranking of 1730. He will not be glad about Kai sharing his number, for Kai really isn't a player who would get such a high ranking these days. It would be in everyone's best interest if you clear up the situation before things get out of hand. Also, I feel you have to control AMIGO's use of DCI numbers better. Obviously, the company is totally careless concerning the new numbers they give out, and don't even care when someone tries to help them to avoid such mistakes. I don't think that a company which treats their - and your - customers in such an ignorant and careless way should be allowed free reign over Germany's Magic tournaments. Most people who get those numbers won't really care, so expect a few hundred of those numbers already floating around, and also expect this count to increase if you don't investigate. Please don't let this happen. I will also forward this message to AMIGO, Frank Kusumoto of the Dojo, and Gordon, the Head Judge of both tournaments. If I don't see any reply to this, as happened with the first three mails you forwarded "to the right person", I will post regular updates on the situation to the Dojo until the situation clears up. Thank you. Karsten Dürotin
