Subject: Cheating.... Date: Wed, 29 Jul 1998 11:12:13 -0400 From: Sheri Cyr To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Andrea, I am well aware that there is much cheating at PTQs and other tourneys, but when you are going to write a post about them, make sure that the first example of what you your writing about was actually cheating. I understand that you were using the Matt Vienneau incident to say that he shouldn't have blasted the judge in the manner that he did, I do not think this should have been addressed in a post labeled PT cheating unless you saying that his opponant was cheating. This is where I decided to write, first of all I was at that PTQ, the guy he was playing started his turn, there was some discussion between the two of them after which he asked if he had drawn his card neither one knew if he had, so both decide he should. After a while Matt counted up the cards and said that the other player had more, both knew most likely it had occured on the one turn I spoke of. Once the ruling had been made, the other player had offered Matt to either randomly discard one from his hand or for Matt to draw an additional card (which he did). Matt won that game, but not the match. He made a huge spectical afterwards. Not just about the judges ruling but about whether or not the extra card had been drawn intentionally and how it gave other person an advantage. When approched that he had been offered, and had taken him up on, the offer to draw an additional card he replied, " that was because your cover was blown". Reviewing this he of course was taking the stance that the other player intentionally drew an extra card. Which in turn ,is what you seem to be also saying by including this under the heading that you have it. I don't mean to be long winded, But the The other player of that match, Dave Underwood doesn't cheat. It is that simple. Try reading the Dojo Post "The Coolest Player in MTG" of all the people in magic, he is the most sportsman like player you'll find! Ther are MANY players who will back me up on this as well. Maybe that is not how you intending for it to appear but that is how it does. If you wanted to address Judging issues, then the Post should be listed as such. Thank you for your time, Sheri Cyr Magic player
