Subject: Card Theft In Magic tourney's Date: Mon, 10 Jul 1995 22:12:45 -0000 From: "Aaron" To: How many people out there turn around and notice that hey my deck (and or) cards are gone? then 1 of the 2 things happen you either start panicking or you blow it off becuase it was a sealed deck....usallly it's the first ...becuase A. it's all your cards .and/or trade stuff it was your sealed deck and now your going to lose your match(s) and you therefore lose points and possibly keep you out a a pro tour or money possition in the past two week's i've had cards stolen from me and I am quite pissed off...first happend at grand prix indy. it was round 4 and i was 3-1 not to bad.. then i put my deck in my bag ...walked to a chair in the dealer's room fooled around with a t2 deck went back for the next round and poof my deck is missing form my bag! luckily for me some generous sole turned it in...but with all the rare's missing...so i had like 3 minutes before is start loosing game 1 then another 5 before the match...i did end up getting all rare's but then i already lost my first round and i had no hope without sidebording.. so my 380+ mile journey here was a waste .... my next enduring encounter happened at ORIGINS it like sunday ...every day since the wednesday before i've been trading and buying like mad ...so i have this nice fat binder full of stuff like Beta Juggernuats ,sinkhole, swords , disk's , birds, with Foreign knights, wrath's, geddens and 18 dual lands, arena disenchants/ fireballs , also a timetwister , mana crypts.. berserks, and selected artist proofs.. binder is now M.I.A. yup some one snagged it...in plain view ... the whole binder i estimated at like a $1,000 Minimum . and back when i first started i had a complete set of unlimeted and arabian's stolen forrrm me in a beeting...(it was after a tourney walked out to my car then bam some hit me over the head knocked me out and took my cards) Now i know a lot of people has had this happen to them. and i wonder if i can recover from this huge loss ..i mean i'm only a med-oker player... what is this problem that we magic player's face against thieves like these ....i wonder how other people recovered ....i remember tony tsai got his bagged snagged at grand prix toronto..how can we as magic players stop thieving from accuring ...can all of us step up and take a role as a watcher . and see if someone suspicous is grabbing a binnder or bag ..then tourn them in. any comments please post or send e-mail i think this is a major problem... that we as players might be able help fix at least keep down to a minimum Sincerly Aaron Heiss
